Take the time you need to treat yourself properly and to rebuild yourself. It’s like what they tell you on the airplane – put your own oxygen mask on before helping others. It does those around you no good if you get run down and have nothing more to give! The best medicine is preventative medicine, and naturopathic medicine is preventative and holistic by nature.
Women account for three quarters of the patients we see as naturopaths. And therefore we treat all manner of women’s concerns like premenstrual syndrome, menopause, and various complaints like PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome), breast lumps, infertility, endometriosis, as well as more complex issues such as lupus and scleroderma.
As a naturopath, I believe it is important to treat the person and not just their health complaint. You may prefer to use a drug-free method of treatment as opposed to an invasive medical and surgical procedures and offered pharmaceutical drug prescriptions. You may also prefer to have the best of both worlds, to consult with your medical doctor and naturopath, the choice is your choice. Most of the female patients who came to our clinic also had a medical doctor. Some would be happy to work with a naturopath on the same case, many however showed little on no interest. I was always happy to work with the decision the patient made regarding her healthcare choices. (I retired from clinical practice in 2019)

I often find that many women consult me to learn the many options open to them, many are surprised to learn that the medical way is not the highway to health after all. The age of “doctor knows best” has passed its used by date I’m afraid, we now have Dr. Google to give us different sides to the story, and for you as a woman to become fully informed about the choices important to you.
