Urinary Tract Infections Can Be Painful
Looking for a home remedy for urinary tract infection? Do you have a urinary tract infection (UTI)? Here’s what to do straight away, but you may want to see your doctor if you have spotted blood in your urine, have chills, or perhaps have nausea and vomiting or experience significant lower back pain.
It is no fun having pain when you urinate, and there are plenty of home remedies which work well, and I can highly recommend that you try these suggestions immediately, before a UTI becomes a kidney infection. Drinking plenty of fresh water will increase the urine flow, which will help to expel bacteria that are attempting to adhere to the cells lining your urinary tract, especially your urethra. This will also help to decrease the irritation a lot. Keep drinking until your urine is clear. Aim for about ten glasses daily. I have always found that adequate hydration is probably THE most important thing you can do if you experience a urinary tract infection. Some doctors even believe that drinking 250 mls of water hourly is as effective, if not more so – than taking a drug.
Carry A Water Bottle With You
It is so convenient, and it will serve as a reminder to drink ample water.
Cranberry juice is very alkaline and can significantly help to decrease the bad bacteria from sticking to the cells lining the urinary tract. But in some women, it can actually act as an irritant so be aware! Make sure your cranberry juice is not laden with sugar either, as some commercial varieties are. I prefer to recommend the dried berries themselves (obtainable from your good health food or organic food store).
Stop These Urinary Tract Irritators
Some foods can really play havoc with your urinary system, and these foods include citrus (lemon is OK), tomatoes (all/any), mature cheeses, chocolate, spicy foods, caffeine, alcohol (one of the worst), silver beet (Swiss chard), rhubarb and caffeine.
Avoid Carbonated Drinks
Fizzy drinks, especially beer and soda drinks, can really play havoc with your brother.
Avoid Artificial Sweeteners
These artificial sugars are seen by experts are amongst the worst offenders, and if you have a UTI I would certainly recommend that you avoid them.
Avoid ALL Sugars Until Your UTI Is Gone
It is best to avoid ALL forms of sugars and especially alcohol. Sugars only help bacteria to reproduce faster, and you will have a real struggle trying to kick this infection if you keep having sugar in your coffee or tea, sugar on breakfast cereals, jam on toast, etc.
Apply Soothing Heat
You will find great relief if you soothe away the pain of a UTI with a warm application, and a hot water bottle or a wheat pack can help significantly here. Apply to the lower abdominal area and experience major relief.
Avoid Tight Undergarments and Wear Loose Clothing
Waring tight clothing will only help to force bacteria lining the vaginal area up into the urinary tube (urethra) more easily. If you have an irritation, constrictive clothing can cause significant pain and discomfort, because it can press against an already inflamed urethral opening.
Throw away those “hygiene” sprays, they will delay healing and only irritate the already inflamed area.
There will be different kidney herbal medicines that are very beneficial, herbal medicines that have developed not just for kidneys, but for urinary disturbances in general. They work very well indeed to stop a UTI from becoming a kidney infection. Just take 20 drops in a glass of water every two hours throughout the day. Works well in conjunction with the application of a warm application to the lower abdominal region.
